Peer Review Proccess

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Ilmiah Kajian Ilmu Sosial dan Budaya undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and scientific contribution of the published articles.

The journal applies a Double-Blind Peer Review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process.

Review Process

  1. Initial Editorial Screening
    The editorial team evaluates the manuscript to determine its suitability with the journal’s focus and scope, compliance with author guidelines, and overall academic quality.
  2. Plagiarism Screening
    All submitted manuscripts are checked using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding the journal's acceptable threshold may be rejected or returned for revision.
  3. Peer Review
    Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript topic.
  4. Reviewers' Recommendations
    Reviewers evaluate the originality, methodology, theoretical contribution, clarity of presentation, validity of findings, and relevance of references. Reviewers may recommend:
    • Accept Submission
    • Minor Revisions Required
    • Major Revisions Required
    • Reject Submission
  5. Editorial Decision
    The Editor-in-Chief considers the reviewers’ comments and recommendations before making the final editorial decision.
  6. Revision Stage
    Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to the reviewers’ and editors’ comments and resubmit within the specified period.
  7. Final Acceptance and Publication
    Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, proofreading, layout editing, and final publication.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

  1. Review manuscripts objectively, fairly, and professionally.
  2. Maintain the confidentiality of all manuscript information.
  3. Provide constructive comments and recommendations.
  4. Declare any potential conflicts of interest.
  5. Complete reviews within the agreed review period.
  6. Evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit without discrimination based on nationality, gender, religion, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs.
  7. Report any suspected ethical issues, plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate publication.

The average review process typically takes between 4–8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the extent of revisions required.
